Don't Panic
To celebrate [the Kindle2's] ability to provide free access to the world's great information repository from absolutely anywhere (within in the United States that has cellular access), Adafruit Industries has turned the K2 into something of an ode to Douglas Adams's great epic: The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

米国Amazonの電子ブックリーダー Kindle2を、ダグラス・アダムスの同名の小説で有名(有名だよね)な "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" (銀河ヒッチハイクガイド) にみたてて、"Don't Panic*1 " のレーザーエッチングをほどこしたもの。(写真は上のリンクの先にあります。)
Kindleは、携帯電話のデータネットワークに接続して、単体でAmazon提供の電子ブック、新聞、雑誌記事、ブログ記事などをダウンロードできるので、規模はちいさいけど、機能的には、たしかに「銀河ヒッチハイクガイド」に似ていなくもないかもね。それか、「2001年宇宙の旅」の冒頭のほうでフロイド博士が使ってる「ニュースパッド」。
